Individual Therapy
Individual therapy at Calming Corner is designed to support adults who are experiencing anxiety and emotional stress during major life transitions. Periods of change — such as career shifts, relationship changes, educational transitions, relocation, or evolving identity — can often feel overwhelming and destabilizing.
Therapy offers a supportive space to process emotions, explore concerns, and work toward restoring a sense of clarity and emotional balance. Many clients seek individual therapy when anxiety begins to interfere with daily functioning or when ongoing worry, panic symptoms, social anxiety, or increased stress feel difficult to manage.
Through individual therapy, clients are supported in building emotional awareness, strengthening coping skills, and developing tools that promote confidence, stability, and long-term resilience as they navigate life’s transitions.
Treatment is geared toward addressing concerns that commonly arise during life transitions, including:
Intrusive or racing thoughts during periods of uncertainty
Difficulty concentrating or staying organized while adjusting to change
Overthinking and persistent worry about the future
Increased impulsivity or difficulty making decisions
Perfectionism and fear of “getting it wrong”
Heightened self-criticism and negative self-talk
Avoidance of responsibilities or situations due to anxiety
Irritability or emotional reactivity
Procrastination related to overwhelm or fear
Thought spiraling and difficulty mentally “shutting off”
Low self-esteem or identity confusion
Panic symptoms or heightened anxiety responses
Low mood or emotional exhaustion
Decreased motivation and energy
Sleep disturbances related to stress or transition-related anxiety
Therapy is conducted virtually in the state of New York. Sessions typically are weekly or bi-weekly and occur for 60 minutes. Submit the contact form below to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.
ESA Services
As part of our mental health services, we offer evaluations and documentation for Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) when clinically appropriate.
An ESA can provide valuable emotional comfort to individuals experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, or other mental health challenges. We offer a comprehensive assessment to determine whether an ESA would be a beneficial part of your overall treatment plan.
Our ESA services include:
Review of your mental health history and current symptoms to determine eligibility. This will be discussed briefly during a free 15-minute phone consultation.
A full clinical assessment.
A letter of recommendation for an ESA if criteria is met, written in accordance with federal and state guidelines (e.g., the Fair Housing Act),
Please note:
We do not issue ESA letters on-demand or after a single session. ESA evaluations typically require at least 3-4 sessions. An ESA letter is provided only when clinically justified.
An evaluation and letter need to be provided in conjunction. The total cost of this service is $250. $150 is due at start of service and $100 is due prior to receiving your ESA letter.
ESA letters are valid for housing accommodations but are not the same as service animal certifications, which are covered under the ADA.
If criteria is met, Calming Corner will provide a letter detailing necessary information and documented need for service. However, it may be a good idea to check with your landlord or housing authority to see if they require a specific form to be completed. If this is the case, Calming Corner will complete requested form.
Renewals:
The state of New York requires annual renewal for ESA letters. This will be beneficial as your landlord may require an updated letter upon renewal of your lease.
If you received your initial evaluation and letter from Calming Corner, the renewal fee is $150. This includes an updated evaluation and letter.
If you did not receive your initial evaluation and letter from Calming Corner, but have a prior letter that needs renewal, the renewal fee is $200. This includes an updated evaluation and letter.
Clinical Supervision
Our approach to clinical supervision is warm, collaborative, and supportive. We strive to create a safe space where clinicians feel comfortable bringing forward challenging cases, clinical questions, and the emotional realities that can arise in their work.
Supervision is a space to thoughtfully explore case conceptualization, countertransference, and professional frustrations without judgment. Together, we work through clinical concerns using reflection, problem-solving, and skill development to strengthen confidence and clinical decision-making.
We view supervision as a partnership focused on growth, empowerment, and professional identity development. Our goal is to support clinicians in building competence, clarity, and confidence as they continue progressing toward licensure and long-term sustainability in the field.
Calming Corner currently is only able to provide supervision in the state of New York. Submit the contact form below to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.
